We offer an Appraiser & Umpire Class and Examination for Certification, available at various events throughout the year in a controlled setting. There are several upcoming events that will provide certification opportunities. The online test has no extra charge, but participants must have a mobile device, like a tablet or laptop, with 1-2 hours of battery life. Events typically begin at 8 am and conclude by 5 pm.
Non-members may attend the IAUA class, take the certification exam, and obtain their results; nonmembers are not certified. IAUA members agree to abide by the Bylaws and Code of Ethics and Certification is conferred only to an IAUA member in good standing that has successfully passed the exam. IAUA requires one to initially be certified as Appraiser; members must hold the Certified Appraiser designation for six months to be eligible to sit for the Umpire exam.
Members holding the “Certified Property Insurance Appraiser (CPIA), “Certified Property Insurance Umpire (CPIU)” or “Certified Property Appraiser and Umpire (CPAU)” are listed in our Certified Directory.
More than 30 days: Full refund or transfer to another IAUA event.
30 to 8 days: Refund minus $100 processing charge or full IAUA event credit.
7 to 3 days: $100 credit for a future event.
2 days or less: No refund or credit.
As a nonprofit, we make financial commitments for venue, catering, and event logistics based on registrations. Because of these costs, we are unable to offer full refunds close to the event.
